River South was chartered by a commission of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church at its Sunday morning worship service, Nov. 16, in the historic “Old Schoolhouse” of The Cabin Restaurant at Burnside. The church held its first worship service on this site on Easter Sunday, 2006, and was sponsored by River Community Church in Prairieville.

Some 70 people attended, and saw the Rev. A. R. ”Russ” Stevenson installed as pastor by the Rev. Garnett Slatton, pastor of the parent church.  Installed as elders were Nolan Cashat, Jack Miller, Jody Boudreaux and Jimmy Wilson.
