Runoffs set for JP, constable

Incumbent Justice of the Peace in the 3rd Justice Court Jamie Frederic Braud faces a runoff with challenger John C. Hebert after the Oct. 4 election, according to unofficial results from the Secretary  of State’s Office.

Braud garnered 3,266 votes, or 44 percent, Saturday to Hebert’s 3,078 votes, or 42 percent.

The race gained notoriety when Karen Tomlinson, a recent employee in Braud’s office, ran against her former employer. Tomlinson came in a distant third with 1,010 votes, or 14 percent.

In the 2nd Justice Court Constable race, Danny P. Thibodeaux and  George “G.W.” Anderson will be in the Nov. 4 runoff.

Thibodaux received 3,768 votes, or 42 percent, while Anderson had  3,702 votes, or 41 percent.

James D. Richard came in third with 1,458 votes, or 16 percent.
