Bourgeois Sr., Gussie Augusta “Junior”       

A retired carpenter, he died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, in Gonzales. He was 76 and a native and resident of Gonzales. Interment in Cornerview Cemetery, Gonzales.

Chaplain, Viola Gore       

A resident of Waggaman and a native of Gonzales, she died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at Gonzales Health Care Center. She was 84. Memorial service at Cross Point Baptist Church, 14965 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Her body was donated to science.

Chatelain Jr., Herbert   

A retired industrial electrician with J.E. Merit Inc., TMC, he died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a courageous two-year battle with kidney cancer. He was 54, a resident of Prairieville and a native of Metairie. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. until memorial service at 10 a.m. He loved radio-controlled airplanes.

Cross Sr., Harry R.   

He dedicated his life to hard work and would not settle for anything less. He retired from the Ascension Parish Police Jury in 1992. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, having received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was a proud member of Disabled Veterans. He was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Pittsburgh and raised in New Castle, Pa. During the war he was stationed in Monroe, where he said he met the love of his life, Hattie Cedotal. A resident of Gonzales, he died Monday morning, Sept. 29, 2008, sitting in his swing in his yard. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family wants to recognize Mr. Cross' very best friends, Fred and Charlene Godwin, and to thank Dr. John Fraiche, his longtime physician.
