Sorrento Lions Club to hold annual Boucherie Festival Oct. 10-12

Staff reports

SORRENTO?– The smell of cracklins bubbling in the pot will return Oct. 10-12, as the Sorrento Lions Club will host its 31st Annual Boucherie Festival, town officials said Friday.

“We will be at Reynolds Lambert Park and the Ascension Civic Center,” said Town Clerk Fern Barnett, who will serve as Grand Marshall for the festival’s parade Oct. 10. The parade begins in the parking lot of St. Anne's Catholic Church at 10 a.m., and ends in Reynolds Lambert Park, outside the Ascension Civic Center.

Announcement of the festival was delayed to damage caused by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, and uncertainty over how long FEMA would need to operate at the civic center.

“There will be the cracklin’ and jambalaya contests, bands and the usual things,” Barnett said. “We hope everybody will come.”

The festival will also feature musicial acts such as Russ Luquette with special guest Jada Roper, The Reunion Band, Cliff Nickens, The Lil' Bayou Band, Foret Tradition, Cruzzzin’, Kenny Cornett and Killin' Time and Kenny Fife.
