Retired owner of Babin's Floor Covering and Jim Babin Apartments, he was born June 30, 1928, and departed this life Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008. He was a native and resident of St. Amant, and a U.S. Army veteran. Interment in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery.
Gauthreaux Jr., Lloyd C.
He died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at 2:45 p.m. at his home in Prairieville. He was a dispatcher for Weber Marine. He was born on April 25, 1952, in Crowley. He served in the Merchant Marine. A private service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Melancon, Larry John “Mac”
A resident of Prairieville and a retired Baton Rouge firefighter, he passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008. He was 68 and a U.S. Navy veteran. Entombment to follow in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Prairieville. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
Ramirez, Robin Chauvin
Robin Chauvin Ramirez, 52, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, and an angel, who was cherished by all who knew her. Her generosity in caring, giving and doing for others continued to the end. A native of Thibodaux, she was born Sept. 11, 1956, and died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at her home in Gonzales. Survived by her husband, Ralph Ramirez; daughter, Jamilyn Ramirez; mother, Therease Percle Chauvin; sisters, Penny Chauvin and Noelee Chauvin Brooks; and nephews and their spouses, Brandon and Natasha Brooks and Beau and Michelle Brooks. Preceded in death by her father, LeRoy A. Chauvin; grandparents, Albert and Bernadette Oncale Percle and Aldoph and Stella Antill Chauvin; and a dear friend, Dale Laiche. Visitation at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. until the memorial Mass at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Joel LeBauve, celebrant. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. Robin was part owner and bookkeeper of Southland Drugs 1 in Thibodaux and a retired secretary from Dutchtown High School. She enjoyed cooking and assisting in coaching the girl's softball pony league. The family would like to thank Dr. Jay Brooks and staff, Michelle, the Chemo Angels, Kellie, Shelley, Tameka, Casey, Daphne, Ms. Pat and Kelly, Dr. King and the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Radiation Lab and to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice with a special thanks to Dawn and Don. A retired Bank of Gonzales custodian and a resident of Gonzales, she died at 4:09 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 70 and a native of Maurepas. Interment in Do Right Baptist Church Cemetery, Gonzales.
