Two men arrested on local generator theft charges

Staff reports

The parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mississippi man and another from Gretna on Sept. 7 for allegedly stealing generators, Chief Deputy Tony Bacala reported.

After receiving a call that a generator was stolen from Susan Court Drive near Babin Road in Gonzales, investigators obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and two male occupants, Bacala said.

Within minutes, a patrolman found the suspected vehicle and the two men on Bayou Black Extension off Airline Highway, the chief deputy said. After taking the suspects into custody, the deputy found three generators and various burglary tools in the vehicle.

Bacala said at least one of the generators was stolen from Susan Court, and investigators are trying to determine the other rightful owners.

Charged with felony theft and possession of burglary tools and held on $50,000 bonds set by Judge Alvin Turner were:

• James Howerton, 38, of 2708 Rose Drive, Gretna.

• Landon Davis, 25, of 2346 Hightower Road, Pass Christian, Miss.
