Information for the parish's five high school football teams' games this week was released Tuesday, with four of the parish's five high schools opening their seasons after missing Week 1 games because of Hurricane Gustav.

The St. Amant Gators will open their season with their Week 2 opponent, the Lutcher Bulldogs, Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Lutcher. The game was moved up because of possible landfall by Hurricane Ike in Louisiana.

St. Amant's Week 1 contest against Parkview Baptist was canceled because of Gustav's impact on the region.

Questions about the game can be directed to the school's athletic department at 621-2586. There will be no freshman or junior varsity games prior to the varsity contest. Pre-sale tickets for hte game are only available at the school.

After having their Week 1 game against Redemptorist canceled, the East Ascension Spartans will travel to Denham Springs Thursday to face the Yellow Jackets. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Jacket Stadium for the non-district tilt.

The Dutchtown Griffins, who were scheduled to host the Assumption Mustangs in Week 1, will face a different opponent in their season opener Friday. Instead of their scheduled Week 2 opponent H.L. Bourgeois, which backed out of the game because of continued hurricane recovery in Terrebonne Parish, the Griffins will travel to Baton Rouge to face the Redemptorist Wolves. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Majella Field.

Redemptorist was originally scheduled to travel to Monroe to face Richwood this week.

After missing its Week 1 game at St. Thomas More, Donaldsonville High will also have its Week 2 game at White Castle canceled because of damage from Gustav to both teams' areas.

The Iberville Parish School System canceled games for all its high schools this week, while Donaldsonville High School regained power Tuesday and was scheduled to resume classes Thursday.

Ascension Catholic High School, which will not reopen for classes until Sept. 15, will host Ridgewood Prep Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Floyd Boutte Memorial Stadium.
