Jones, James W.
He passed away at his home in Prairieville on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. A private memorial ceremony was held for the family in Tylertown, Miss., on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Martin, Nora Wells “Lucille”
A resident of Gonzales and former owner of L&R Food Store, she passed away on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008. She was 85 and a native of Albany. Interment in the New River Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Aman. Wilson, Arthur Noland “Red”
A life-long construct-ion laborer, and resident of Sorrento (The “Pananma”). He was 82 years old and departed this life on Aug. 12, 2008 at his residence. Service will be held at Jeremiah Baptist Church, Convent, Saturday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Joseph White Sr. Interment Hopeful Cemetery, Hilliaryville. He is survived by his loving wife, Augustine Smith Wilson, Sorrento; three daughters, Sandra W. (Valmond, Jr.) Brown, Prairieville; Elouise (Nate) Sowell, Sorrento; Augustine (Anthony) Brown, Sorrento; one son, Nolan Wilson Sr. and friend Versie, Sorrento; 18 grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Moody, Roxbury, Mass., and Sarah Williams, St. Francisville; two brothers, Allen (Margaret) Wilson, Gonzales, and Morris Wilson, Dallas, Texas; a sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, parents, two brothers, and three sisters. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, a member of Local 1177 Construction and Laborer Union, Baton Rouge, and a deacon with Jermiah Baptist Church.
