Caraway, Carl Lett

Carl Lett Caraway, a retired mechanical engineer with the Ethyl Corp., passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at his home in Prairieville. He was 93 and a native of Fordoche. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. until funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ed Bledsoe. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Crawford, Joyce   

Joyce Crawford, 70, a native of Gonzales and a resident of Magnolia, Miss., passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008, after a brief illness. The family will be receiving friends in the chapel at Jones Family Funeral Services, 905 Park Drive, McComb, Miss., on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 2 p.m. until services celebrating her life at 3 p.m. Michael Martin, pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, will officiate. Joyce was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Gonzales, the daughter of Charles and Michale Arceneaux Trippi. Mrs. Crawford attended Gonzales High School. She was a beautician, having graduated from cosmetology school in Baton Rouge. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved cooking, taking care of her family and friends, working in her flowers and she loved her little dog, Susie. Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rosalie Broussard and Thelma Morgan; and brother-in-law, J.B. Broussard. Survivors include her devoted husband, Marion Crawford, of Magnolia; son, Dwain Bercegeay and wife Angelia, of Prairieville; daughter, Debbie B. Solar and husband Richard, of Magnolia; two brothers, Vincent Trippi and wife Georgimar, of Acy, and Joseph Trippi and wife Sue, of French Settlement; three grandchildren, Bailey Bercegeay, of Prairieville, Lori Solar, of Atlanta, and Tara S. Toney and husband Michael S. Toney Sr., of New Roads; two great-grandchildren, Michael Toney Jr. and Erica Toney; brother-in-law, Nelson Morgan, of St. Amant; and 13 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Children's Miracle Network, 5000 Hennessey Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70808.

Mathis, Darren J.       

A Fabricated Steel employee and resident of Prairieville, he died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 41 and a native of Baton Rouge.  Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Schmidt, Ethel Glen (Pickett)        

A retired nurse anesthetist and a resident of Donaldsonville, she died at 7:26 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008, in Donaldsonville. She was 83 and a native of Smithdale, Miss. Interment in Midway Cemetery, Meadville, Miss.
