Walk Multiple Sclerosis Fundraiser is coming to Baton Rouge

On May 4, 2019 at the North Boulevard Town Square in Baton Rouge, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will be hosting the Walk MS event.

It is estimated that 500 people will attend the event, raising more than $70,000 dollars. The funds raised will go towards research for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and treatments, as well as local programs and services.

Walk MS has generated more than $1 billion dollars since its inception in 1988, with nearly 300,000 people fundraising and volunteering worldwide. The event is an opportunity for passionate people to come together with their friends, loved ones, and co-workers to advocate for those affected by MS.

MS attacks the brain and spinal cord, and it is the most common neurological disease leading to disability in young adults. It is unpredictable. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. MS affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide.

"We believe in doing whatever it takes to accelerate breakthroughs in this disease," Cyndia Zagieboylo, President and CEO of the National MS Society, said. "Nobody should face MS alone, which is why Walk MS is so powerful as the gathering place for the MS movement."
