Gonzales Christmas Parade has new route

The Gonzales Christmas Parade, set to roll on December 9, 2018 has a new route.

The new route plans to begin on Irma and ending at East Bank Shopping Center. The council, and other residents of the city, has shown concern for safety with the railroad tracks with the previous route, and felt it best to move the route away from them to prevent fatalities. Another reason is that they want to protect the flowers that have been planted on Burnside.

The plan is to have the bands meet at the shopping center, while floats meet on the other end by Irma. They plan to close both sides of Irma by 8 a.m. on that day.
