Early voting begins Tuesday, October 23 and runs through Tuesday, October 30 (NO Sundays). K.C. Senior Citizen Events

St. John the Evangelist Knights of Columbus Council 8342 will host a jambalaya blood drive and sweet sale on October 14. Four-time jambalaya champion Byron Gautreau will cook sausage and pork jambalaya. $6 per plate. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Blood donors will receive a plate at no cost. The annual senior citizen banquet will be held October 17 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the St. John Activity Center behind the church. Come for door prizes, jambalaya, and music. Cram the Van

The Arc of East Ascension will hold its Cram the Van event on Saturday, October 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gonzales Walmart. 4-H Fundraiser

Sweet potatoes and peeled pecans! To order, contact an Ascension Parish 4-H'er or the Ascension Parish 4-H Office at 225-621-5799. All proceeds will benefit the Ascension Parish 4-H Foundation to increase scholarships and programs. Orders are due October 24, 2018. Pickup will be at the 4-H Office, Lamar Dixon on November 7-8 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sweet Potatoes: 10-pound box $12, 40-pound box $25; Peeled Pecans: 3-pound box $30.

Relay for Life

Loss and Grief Education

Henry Turner, Jr. Day

Henry Turner, Jr. Day will hold a VIP Pre-party at Henry Turner, Jr.’s Listening Room Heritage Museum on Thursday, October 25 from 7 p.m. to midnight. Repticon Gonzales

On October 27-28 this family-oriented, fun-filled event offers guests the opportunity to learn about animals not normally seen in local pet stores. Breeder-vendors are always willing to teach. Throughout the event there will be seminars on animal-related topics by experts in the field of herpetology. The doors open to the general public at 10 a.m. on Saturday, closing at 5 p.m. On Sunday, the show hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. At the door, tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, and children under 5 are admitted free. Annual Health Fair/Expo

Capital Area Agency on Aging (CAAA) will host their annual health fair/expo on October 25 at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Over 850 seniors from over 13 parishes attended the event last year. The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office presents BOO and the Badge on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hickley M. Waguespack Center, 1201 Maginnis Street, Donaldsonville, La. Dutchtown Golf Fundraiser

The cheerleaders of Dutchtown High School announce they will be hosting a golf tournament fundraiser at Santa Maria Golf Course on Monday October 15, 2018. The junior varsity and varsity cheerleaders will be raising money for their upcoming trip to The High School Cheerleading Championships in ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. Cheerleaders are seeking local business and community members to sponsor and play in their first ever golf tournament. Players will experience a fun event with plenty of freebies and prizes. Dr. Louis LeFebvre at Main Street Dental Care in Gonzales, La. is participating in Freedom Day USA on October 11. This day is designed to honor and help our military by offering free dental services to current and retired military personnel, as well as their immediate family. In addition to offering our services we are asking businesses around our community to donate items (i.e. gift cards, items for raffles, food/drink to enjoy in office while waiting) to make this a great experience for the patients. Fitness for Boobs

CareSouth is a partner with American Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer. In recognition of October as breast cancer awareness month, we will be hosting a community event in Donaldsonville. The event, Fitness for Boobs, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 13, 2018 at the Lemann Memorial Donaldsonville Community Center.

Acadian Art Show

The Iberville Parish Library presents its forty-eighth annual Acadian Art Show at the “J. Allan Nadler” Main Library Branch at 24605 J. G. Berret Blvd. in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Family Spook Night

The Assumption Parish LSU AgCenter 4-H Staff is hosting its annual Family Spook Night. The public is invited to attend. Spook Night will be held on Wednesday, October 17, at the LSU AgCenter Complex (4-H Office) located at 119 Robin Street in Napoleonville. The time will be from 6-8:00 p.m. We will have lots of food, games, and fun for the whole family. Come dressed in your Halloween costume and enter our costume contest. Louisiana Beekeepers

The USDA Honey Bee Breeding, Genetics and Physiology Laboratory and the Louisiana State Beekeepers Association will hold the 22nd Annual Field Day on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The event will be held at the laboratory, located at 1157 Ben Hur Rd, Baton Rouge LA 70820. Youth Basketball Registration

Online registration for the 2019 Ascension Youth Basketball Association program (AYBA) for boys and girls ages six to fifteen runs from 10/17 to 10/31 in Gonzales.
