Fire Station Groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Donaldsonville Fire Station Number 110 will be held Thursday, August 2 at 10 a.m.

300 Free Backpacks

Iglesia Centro de Vida, a United Pentecostal Church International, is giving back to the local community by donating 300 backpacks to the first 300 new guests who visit its Back 2 School Celebration. There will be games and other fun activities, including a water slide for the kids. To welcome their guests and make them feel even more at home, they plan on serving many dishes from Latin American countries. The event begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, on the church grounds, located at 13477 Pamela Street. The public is invited to attend.

Trinity AME Church Family and Friends Fellowship Day

The Pastor, officers and members of Trinity AME church wish to invite you to worship with us during our annual Family and Friends Fellowship on Sunday, July 29 during our 9 o'clock worship service. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Let us come together to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. The special guest preacher for this occasion is the Rev. Dr. Michael E. Bell Sr., pastor of Allen Chapel AME Church in Washington, DC. Additionally, we are expecting several members of the Allen Chapel church family to travel down to Louisiana to mark this very special occasion with us. Our theme is “Better Together”, taken from Psalm 34:3. “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!” We look forward to your presence as we seek to offer praises to our God in the spirit of unity. Garfish Rodeo

The 32nd annual Garfish Rodeo will be held at Manny's, Highway 22 in Maurepas. All proceeds are donated to LFACC and ST. Jude. The event will take place July 28-29. The cost: $75/boat to enter. Sign-up: July 28 at noon. "Big Gar" - $1,000; 2nd place - $500; 3rd - $250 Biggest Trash Fish (no sharks). Limit 10 Gar - 50 Jug Limit. Can only fish waters accessible to Blind River. Singletary-Courtney Reunion

The Singletary-Courtney Reunion will be held July 29, 2018 at Faithful United Methodist Church. 12 p.m. Lunch after church at 12. Everyone is invited.

Dville Leadership Meeting

Music Therapy: Drum Circle

As part of the People's Health Wellness Program, Music Therapy: Drum Circle featuring Speaker Carly Carrone will be held at the Gonzales Senior Center on 526 S. Irma Avenue on Friday, August 3. Pet Adoption

The SPCA of Livingston will be holding a pet adoption event on Saturday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at the PetSmart on Millerville Road in Baton Rouge right off of I-12. Bring your family out and meet all of the sweet, furry friends looking for their forever homes. There will be a variety of cats, kittens, puppies and adult dogs.

Grilling in the Garden

On Sunday, July 29, John Folse's White Oak Plantation & Farm will host “Grilling in the Garden” at White Oak Plantation & Farm. Guests will learn grilling techniques and add a few recipes to their arsenal, while sipping Louisiana-made beers and spirits. The Broadway Tenors

A Hair-Raising Experiment

On July 28 at 11 a.m. 1 p.m., & 3 p.m. and on July 29 at 1:30 p.m. & 3 p.m. have fun with chemistry at these 45-minute hands-on workshops for kids 6–12 and their accompanying adults. Kids will participate in A Hair-Raising Experiment, where they will observe and compare some interesting properties of matter, such as viscosity.
