1. Join the library for a Mother’s Day party: The Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales is hosting a Mother’s Day Tea Party on May 5 at 6 p.m. Attendees will enjoy cake, tea, punch and story time with their mothers. There will also be games and crafts during the party. Registration is required.

2. Go to a cook-off: The Gonzales Memorial VFW Post 42430 is hosting their cook-off, Jam 2016, on May 7. There will be a Wood Fire, Mini Pot and Burner Division. 3. Attend a Women’s Luncheon: St. Elizabeth Hospital is hosting their Women’s Health Luncheon on May 11 from noon to 1 p.m. This year’s topic is Awareness and Advocacy for Eliminating Healthcare Disparities in Women. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Carla Harwell, Associate Professor in Medicine at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Single tickets are $20, $160 for a table of eight.
