Cooking to live or Living to Cook: BBQ Shrimp

In Louisiana, when deciding what to cook, the time of year plays a large role in the menu choices.

The choice was easy this weekend. My dad dropped off 30 pounds of fresh shrimp. My go to recipe is BBQ shrimp cooked in the oven.

BBQ Shrimp

4 lbs. fresh head on shrimp

1 stick real butter

2oz Worcestershire

1 ½ tbls. Cajun seasoning (Blanchard’s Blend)

2oz. Olive Oil

1 tbls. Minced garlic

2 whole lemons

1 oz. Louisiana hot sauce

1 bunch green onions finely chopped

1 loaf French bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Melt sick of butter in sauce pan or microwave. Set aside to let cool.

  3. Place shrimp in 9 x 11 baking pan.

  4. Add to shrimp – Cajun seasoning, Worcestershire, hot sauce, green onions, olive oil, butter and hot sauce. Stir to mix all ingredients.

  5. Place in middle rack of oven, bake until shrimp turns pink, about 15-20 minutes.

  6. Place French bread cut length wise in oven or broil for 5 minutes.

  7. Cut lemons in half, squeeze on shrimp and stir.

  8. While peeling and eating shrimp, dip French bread in butter sauce.

  9. Careful not to bite one of your fingers off!
