1. Bring your teen to the library's summer reading program: This year’s Teen Summer Reading Theme isGet in the Game: Read.Using the Morse code alphabet, teens will craft necklaces and bracelets to tell their own story on June 3 at the Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales.

2. Attend the annual Juneteenth Festival: On June 4 and 5, the 20th annual Juneteenth Festival will commence in Louisiana Square in Donaldsonville. The event will feature music, shopping, food and activities for the kids. On Saturday, the event will begin at 11 a.m. with a prayer and history of the festival, followed by the RRAAM sign language ensemble, local cheerleader exhibition, music from DJ Marquis and Michael Foster. 3. Learn to cope with diabetes: St. Elizabeth Hospital is hosting their monthly Thriving with Diabetes program on June 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m at the Sr. Vernola Conference Room. The guest speaker will be Mary Campos, RN, CDE. Topics include eating healthfully, being physically active, taking prescribed medicines at the right times in the right doses, medical appointments every year and knowing your numbers (A1C, Blood pressure, Cholesterol).
