Summer arts camp to be held
Youth For Real is sponsoring a Summer Art Camp this summer, May 30 through June 3 from 9 a.m. to noon. The summer camp will be held at the Geismar Community Center located at 12060 La. 73.
Early registration will be held on May 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at the community center. The camp will offer instruction in painting and drawing, drama, music, dance and art activities for children six years of age. For more information, (225) 673-8055.
Oil painting workshop scheduled
A one-day oil painting workshop with instructor Sylvia Rochester will be held June 11 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. at the Depot Gallery, 1008 La. 30, Gonzales. The workshop is designed for participants ages 16 and up. Registration is available at the River Region Art Association.
STA Gatorettes to host dance camp
St. Amant High School Gatorettes will host a summer dance camp for kids three years and up from June 6 to June 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at the St. Amant High Gold Dome. The camp will be fun filled with dancing, games, themed days, snacks and a “show-off” night.
Costs is $55 for early registration, $60 for walk-in registration. Fees includes instruction, snacks, drinks, t-shirt and photo.
All classes are taught by the members of the National Award Winning Gatorettes. Participants will be invited to perform at a St. Amant High School home football game.

Gonzales PD junior police summer program
The Gonzales Police Department is taking applications for their Summer 2016 Junior Police Program held on Wednesdays from June 1 to July 27 for children ages eight to thirteen.
The program will be held at the Gonzales Civic Center, 219 S. Irma Ave., beginning at 9 a.m., and is designed to educate children on safety, using lectures, games and outings. All sessions will be held on site, except for the range shooting day.
A graduation banquet will be held on July 27. Each child must participate in at least five out of the eight sessions in order graduate.
Applications are available at the Gonzales Police Department located at 415 E. Cornerview Road. Children over 13 years old can participate in the Explorer group. Applications can be picked up at GPD as well.
