Over 140 Ascension Parish Girl Scouts learned how to be cookie entrepreneurs at their annual Cookie Rally on Friday, January 3 while giving back to their community at the same time.

The local Girl Scouts brought in hundreds of beads and stuffed animals to help The ARC of East Ascension raise funds for people with disabilities. The Girl Scouts then sorted these beads into color and length to be sold for the upcoming Mardi Gras season.

The Cookie Rally had seven stations the girls visited including the bead sorting station. Other stations helped the scouts learn safety while selling, sales pitch techniques, quick cookie math, cookie jingles, cookie recognition, and the importance of saying thank you to customers.

Selling Girl Scout cookies has been a tradition for over 100 years. It is typically the first business a girl will ever run. You can begin to buy Girl Scout cookies locally on January 10. Mardi Gras krewes can contact The ARC of East to purchase beads at 225-621-2000.
