The children had a great time bowling

The second Mommy and Me event at Tanger Outlets in Gonzales was a tremendous success. More than 50 moms brought their children to the family-friendly event, which featured crafts, games, and even a magician.

The event takes place on the second Tuesday of every month and will run through October. April’s event was spring-themed with all of the crafts and stories being centered around the season.

Children enjoyed story time and singing along to songs like the “Hokey Pokey” and the “Itsy Bitsy Spider.” The craft corner saw children making paper lanterns and umbrella artwork. Kids could also play games like bowling and fishing. A few suites down, the children met a balloon artist who made animals, crowns, and other balloon art while a magician showed off some magic tricks to the amazed youngsters.

While the event is certainly centered around the kids, the moms who come by don’t leave empty handed. Each mom walks away with a gift bag filled with coupons for Tanger stores and information about community resources from the Ascension Parish Library. Of course the bags also include crayons, coloring sheets, and a slinky for the kids.

Next month’s Mommy and Me celebration will be garden-themed. Kids can expect to participate in games and crafts that center around flowers and other springy activities. The next event will be held on Tuesday May 8, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Tanger Outlets. Look for the balloons at Suite 151.
