The Walk of Honor Foundation hosted its 13th annual memorial service in honor of all of Louisiana’s fallen firefighters Saturday.

The event, held on the grounds of the Department of Public Safety complex in Baton Rouge, saw more than 200 attendees, which included more than a dozen fire departments and districts from around the state.

This year, three fallen firefighters were added to the Wall of Honor- James Brandon Sarrett, Caddo Parish Fire District 3; Troy Dewayne McGee, New Orleans Fire Department; and Ronda Sylvest Varnado, Washington Parish Fire District 2.

Sarrett perished in the line of duty in December 2013, McGee died in the line of duty in October of 2014 and Varnado was killed in a crash while responded to a call in July of 2017.

Their names will join the other 116 heroes already on the Wall. To those who may wonder, names to be added to the Wall are finalized by December 31st of the previous calendar year of the service.
