UL Lafayette students recognized for President's, Dean's List

Students recognized on the President’s List have earned a 3.8 GPA or better. Dean’s List honorees have earned at 3.5 GPA or better. To qualify for either list, students must be enrolled full-time. Samford University Fall 2017 Dean's List

Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester. We're pleased to announce Michal Graves of Prairieville and James Miley of Prairieville have achieved this honor.

Albion College Dean's List

Local student Khalif Birden was named to the Albion College Dean's List for the fourth time at the end of the fall 2017 semester. Students named to the Dean's List must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above in four graded courses. Khalif Birden is majoring in anthropology. Birden is the child of Loreal Evans of Gonzales, La. Albion College is a private liberal arts college located in south central Michigan.

LA 18 Emergency Road Closure

An emergency road closure will take on LA 18 at W 7th Street beginning Monday, January 29. This road closure is expected to last through Friday, February 16. This closure is a full road closure and no thru traffic will be allowed to pass during the road closure. Detour routes are as follows: West bound - LA 18 to LA 3120 then LA 70 to LA 3089 back to LA 18; East bound - LA 18 to LA 3089 then LA 70 to LA 3120 back to LA 18. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

DOTD: Lane Closures LA 42

Construction has begun for State Project H.002370, LA 42 Widening. The project consists of grading, drainage structures, subgrade treatment, drilled shaft foundations, traffic signalization, landscaping, asphalt concrete pavement, portland cement concrete pavement, and related work in Ascension Parish. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be a lane closure at the intersection of LA 42 & US 61 on Saturday, February 3. Work in this area consists of installation of subsurface drainage crossing LA 42. Closures will be eastbound and westbound directions along LA 42 between US 61 & LA 73. Detours will be in place for motorist to access LA 73 via LA 427 (Old Perkins Rd.). Work in this area affecting LA 42 is expected to last approximately one day, weather permitting. No permit or oversize loads along with emergency vehicles will be able to pass. Gonzales Police Department addresses drinking and driving

The Gonzales City Police Department wishes to announce they were awarded a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for 2018, that will include Seatbelt Enforcement, Impaired Driving and Juvenile Under Age Drinking. The week of February 2-14 is dedicated for Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, and the Gonzales Police Department officers will be out in force to enforce and protect the citizens. Tuesday, February 9 from 8 p.m. till 3 a.m. the Gonzales Police Department will join other departments for a DWI checkpoint on LA 44 Burnside.
