Freedom Garden Project
Volunteers are needed to join the River Road African American Museum as we team up with grandparents and the community to SERVE and COMMEMORATE in honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday January 15. The theme is "A Day On, Not a Day Off!" Volunteers of all ages will tour the museum and plant seeds in the Freedom Garden. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 406 Charles Street, Donaldsonville, La. College Funding Seminar
Do you need money for college? Come find out how to finance your child’s education. At Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown, Career Coach Shannon Hattier will share her expertise about the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and TOPS. Learn how financial aid really works, as well as how to qualify for and keep the TOPS Award. Parents and students are encouraged to attend this program together on Saturday, January 13 at 10 a.m. in Dutchtown.
Mother Goose Asks “Why?”
Now’s the time to plant a love of science in your preschoolers! Step back and watch it grow as we make discoveries using all five of our senses. Accompany your preschoolers while they start developing pre-science skills through a series of entertaining hands-on activities and stories. Mother Goose Asks “Why?” is a four week series starting on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 and continuing for the next three consecutive Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at Ascension Parish Library in Dutchtown. We will introduce concepts such as growing and changing, same and different, and the five senses. This program is designed for preschoolers ages 3 through 5. Please register by calling the Ascension Parish Library at Dutchtown at 673-8699. Space is limited so be sure to register as early as possible. This program is free and open to the public.
Girls Softball Tryouts
Marucci Patriots are having 8u Girls Softball Tryouts for our 2018 Spring/Summer team! We are looking for young athletes from all surrounding areas born after 2008. LSU Museum of Art announces La Fête de la Rivière
The LSU Museum of Art announces Saturday, February 24, 2018, as the date for its inaugural gala, La Fête de la Rivière. The event will be held from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. with the theme of celebrating the creative contributions to Louisiana culture. Ticket prices range from $100 to $150, and all proceeds from the evening will be dedicated to the continuation of the museum’s art education and community initiatives.
