The Dutchtown library transformed into a room fit for a wizard, as local teens gathered for the library's first end of summer Yule Ball. Local librarians remodeled the meeting room to be a replica of the world of Harry Potter, complete with chocolate frogs, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and the popular wizarding beverage Butterbeer.

The ball began with the Hogwarts Sorting Hat. Everyone in attendance was sorted into their respective houses- Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin- by randomly picking a button pin out of the Sorting Hat. Next, everyone took part in making their own Golden Snitches and wands while sharing their own version of Harry Potter stories.

The Yule Ball was part of the library's summer reading program, which kicked off at the end of May. This year's theme is Build a Better World, which includes a variety of performances, crafts and activities for all ages.
