-Boater's Safety Course: Cabela's in Gonzales is hosting a boaters safety course on Saturday, July 22 in the second floor classroom from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course includes information on choosing a boat, classification, hulls, motors, legal requirements and equipment requirements, many navigation rules, navigation charts, trailering, sailboats, and related subjects that include canoeing, personal watercraft and more. -Not A #Number: The library has partnered with St. Elizabeth and Child Advocacy Services to host an interactive prevention curriculum designed to teach youth how to protect themselves from human trafficking and exploration.The three day workshop, designed for teens 13-17, will be held at the Gonzales library July 25-27 at 6 p.m. For more information contact St. Elizabeth at (225) 621-2906.

-Yule Ball: Harry Potter fans will rejoice during the Yule Ball were muggle teens will be sorted into their Hogwarts House, make a wand, decorate a snitch and dance the day away. There will be chocolate frogs and butterbeer too! Wizardly and formal attire is welcome. The ball will be held July 20 at 4 p.m. in Donaldsonville, July 24 at 6 p.m. in Gonzales, July 26 at 4 p.m. in Dutchtown and July 31 at 4 p.m. in Galvez.
