Business counseling:The Dutchtown library is hosting a free small business counseling and mentoring event on May 18. The free, on-site counseling is designed for new business start-ups and mentoring for existing businesses. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call (225) 215-0080.

Gun/ Knife Show: More than 60 vendors buy, trade and sell a variety of guns, knives and accessories. Advocates high ethical standards of firearms trading that promotes positive public perception of gun and knives. Under 18 with parent only. The event will be held May 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Trademart Building at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.$9 admission, free parking.

Preserve photos:The library in Gonzales is hosting a presentation by Dr. Edward Benoit, III, on May 23 at 6:30 p.m. discussing preserving and restoring family treasures. Benoit will offer tips and advice on how to protect photos against future disasters and how to restore those that have already been damaged.
