Gonzales Garden Club members gathered outside of City Hall on Irma Blvd. on Friday for their annual Plant and Bake Sale, a tradition that has continued for more than 30 years. The event saw many items for sale such as baked goods, garden equipment and dozens of flowers and plants such as aloe vera, roses, lilies, ginger and cactus, to name a few.

Funds from the fundraiser are used to support community projects such as garden maintenance at Jambalaya Park and Kidz Kove, garden therapy activities at various nursing homes and Oak Grove's garden, said Garden Club President Priscilla Monson.

"This is our big thing for the year," she said. "We support the school system we also support the district and give donations to all the places that have disasters."

The Gonzales Garden Club has been a part of the Gonzales community for 50 years and continues to support various organizations and causes in the area.
