Extreme Rodeo: The 2017 Gonzales Extreme Rodeo will be March 30- April 1 at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. The event will include music, food, vendors, rides, a kids fishing rodeo, bbq cook-off, a petting farm and ag and farm exhibits. For more information visit extremerodeo.org.

Canary Islanders Meeting: On April 1, a meeting of the Canary Islanders Heritage Society of Louisiana will be held at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge, beginning at 11 am. The speaker will be Reneé B. Richard, Assistant Archivist of the Diocese of Baton Rouge.

Lily's Tea Party: The third annual Lily’s Tea Party fundraiser for “team Lily Raffray” benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be held April 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Venue, 13475 La. 431, St. Amant. Lily is a St. Jude patient from St. Amant. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August 2014 at five years old. Advance reservations are $20 per person. Garden Club exhibit: The Gonzales Garden Club is hosting their annual Floral Design and Horticultural Exhibit at the Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales. This year's theme is Louisiana's Natural Beauty. The exhibit will be on display from April 5 at 8:30 a.m. to 8 p .m. to 4 p.m. on April 6. The public is encourages to vote for their favorite floral creations for The People's Choice Award.

Kid's Fishing Rodeo: The East Ascension Sportsman's League is hosting a Kids Fishing Contest on April 8 at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center as part of the annual Crawfish Boiling Contest Festival. There will be a $5 entry for each participant. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with fishing ending at noon in the large pond. Medals will be awarded to the top two places for boys and girls in each age group at the main stage at 1:30 p.m. Bring your own bait, buckets fishing poles, chairs, etc. Live bait only.
