The 23rd Judicial District Bar Association is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program.

This year, the bar association will award a total of four scholarships of $1,000 each to high school seniors who apply from Ascension, Assumption, and St. James Parishes.

The selection of the winners will be based on a criteria of academic achievement, community service, and financial need. Since 2006, the bar association has provided annual scholarships to qualified applicants graduating from high schools located in Ascension, Assumption, and St. James Parishes.

The funds for these scholarships are comprised of donations from attorneys and judges who are members of the 23rd JDC Bar Association.

“As members of the bar association, we know what it is like to devote countless amounts of energy and effort into obtaining a college degree," President Cody Martin said on behalf of the members.

As such, the bar association has committed to pledge our resources back into the community to assist those students who have demonstrated a desire through their academic achievements and volunteer efforts to maintain a commitment to further their education and give back to their community.

Interested seniors should contact their high school counselors for an application or send an application request to Vice President of Public Relations, 23 rd JDC Bar Association, Kristin Gautreau Tregre: kristin@eatel.net. The deadline for submission of applications is April 7, 2017.
