Gov. Edwards names Gonzales men to state boards

On Oct. 26,Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions including the appointment of Billy G. Robbins, of Gonzales, to the Military Family Assistance Board.

Robbins is a veteran of the United States Air Force and is the Cemetery Program Director for the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Military Family Assistance Board is responsible for establishing rules for funding need-based claims submitted by families of activated military personnel and travel assistance for deployed military personnel.

On Oct. 28, Edwards named Michael D. DeLaune, of Gonzales, to the Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission. DeLaune works as an operator and relief supervisor for CF Industries. He will serve as a representative of Ascension Parish. As required by statute, DeLaune was nominated by a legislator representing Ascension Parish.

The Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission has the power and authority to regulate the commerce and traffic within certain boundaries of the State of Louisiana. The Commission has charge of and administers public wharves, docks, sheds, landings, and other structures useful for the commerce of the port area.
