Jo's Journey benefit to be held

A benefit for Jo Ellen Toups, an Ascension resident who was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer, will be held on June 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p .m. at Lamar Dixon-Expo Center.

The event will feature food, live and silent auctions that include a beach weekend and live entertainment from Lil'Bayou Band, Kenny Cornett & Killin Time and Mike Broussard & Nite Train.

Regions Bank has an account set up for those who would like to make donations in the name of Jo's Journey Benefit.

Poker Run to benefit Parish resident

The annual Poker Run will be held on June 25. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Red Barn Tavern, 43256 Moody Dixon Road, Prairieville.

The event will feature live entertainment, food, door prizes and a silent auction. Poker Run stops include Manny's Bar, Fisherman's Wharf, The Hangout, Whiskey River, Mom's Bar and Mr C's Tavern.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Prairieville resident Travis Hatcher. On Sept. 15, 2015, Hatcher went into a diabetic coma where he remained on life support for six weeks at Our Lady of the Lake. He is now awake from his coma but has a tracheal and feeding tube.
