Dutchtown High and Galvez Middle welcome new assistant principals

Mary Dazé will become the new assistant principal of Galvez Middle on July 1, 2016.

Ascension Public Schools has announced the appointment of new assistant principal Sandra Alfred at Dutchtown Primary School and new assistant principal Mary Dazé at Galvez Middle School. 

Sandra Alfred will become the new assistant principal of Dutchtown Primary on June 1, 2016. Originally from St. Gabriel, she has worked in Ascension Parish for 26 years. She began as a teacher at Dutchtown Primary, served two years as a mentor teacher at Donaldsonville Primary, then returned to Dutchtown Primary to teach and serve as a teacher coach.

She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in educational leadership from Louisiana State University.

"Thank you for your confidence in my ability to be part of the leadership team at Dutchtown Primary. I would also like to thank my parents and my school family for the support and encouragement they have given me through this process," Alfred said.

Mary Dazé will become the new assistant principal of Galvez Middle on July 1, 2016. A lifelong resident of Donaldsonville, she spent the last nine years working as a TAP mentor teacher and TAP master teacher at Donaldsonville High School. Prior to working in Ascension, she was a seventh and eighth grade teacher at Lutcher High School.

A nationally certified teacher, she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Nicholls State University and a master's degree in curriculum, instruction and leadership from Louisiana State University in Shreveport.

"I am honored and excited to work alongside Ms. Bourque and her leadership team, and with the students and families of Galvez Middle. I have to thank the Turnaround Zone leaders for the stretch assignments that have helped me grow into this position, as well as my own leadership team and family at Donaldsonville High School," Dazé said.
