Shred your ex this Valentines Day

As Feb. 14 approaches, single people unite in ways to spend the annual love holiday.
While many places will be decorated in hearts and flowers, local fitness studio iLoveKickboxing will be showcasing something a little different with their Anti-Valentines Day event, Shred Your Ex.
On Feb. 13 participants will have the opportunity to tape pictures of their old flames to punching bags and release pent up frustration through an hour-long kickboxing class.
“Not everyone has an ex, not everybody is divorced or is single. This class allows you to bring a picture of your ex boss, ex coworker, ex spouse, ex self, just a picture of anything,” said owner and instructor Andrea Blanchard.
There will be two classes offered on Saturday evening, 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., with music, balloons and door prizes. Worried about the class being too intense? Blanchard said the class is open for everyone from beginners to advanced levels.
“All hands are on deck for each of the two classes so that if we have a class full of new people, we can tailor the class how we see fit,” Blanchard said. “Everyone works at their own pace.”
Though the event is for members, non-members interested in attending can do so by purchasing web special trial sessions. Everyone is welcome to attend, though reservations are required.
Shred Your Ex is one of many events iLoveKickboxing.com studios host throughout the year. The Gonzales branch has monthly events ranging from live DJs to member mixers, to appreciations parties.
