Internet safety, cyber bullying awareness program to be held

     Ascension Public Schools is partnering with Innocent Eyes, a non-profit organization, to provide Internet safety and cyber bullying awareness to students and parents. This Spring, Innocent Eyes will give presentations to all middle and high school students as well as conduct four evening sessions for parents throughout the school district.     

     Sponsored by Cox Communications, the presentations are grouped by high school feeder systems and began on  Jan. 6 in Donaldsonville.

     "It is important that our students understand how to protect themselves from online predators," said Ascension Public Schools Superintendent Patrice Pujol. "We are fortunate to partner with Innocent Eyes founders Chris Duff and Toby Aguillard for this purpose. As former special agents of Louisiana's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, they are uniquely qualified to deliver these messages to our students and parents."

     Toby Aguillard is a former assistant attorney general and former commander of Louisiana's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He has investigated and prosecuted hundreds of online child exploitation cases and is a certified law enforcement instructor. Chris Duff is a former special agent with the Louisiana attorney general's High Tech Crime Unit and a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He has arrested hundreds of Internet predators and child pornography criminals.
