     Well the time of the year is hunting season. I spent three nights at the camp this week and harvested a doe.  Recipe to come later, but the old recipes we broke out at the camp, I have to share.

Coosh – Coosh


2 cups yellow corn meal

1 ½ tps salt

1 ½ cups water

1 tbls bacon grease or butter


Combine corn meal and salt in a medium bowl.  Drizzle 1 cup water over meal and stir lightly with a fork.  Melt butter or grease on low heat in a heavy cast iron pot.  When hot, add cornmeal and cover.  Cook on low, stirring often, for 15 minutes.  Drizzle remaining half cup water over corn over low heat, stirring often for 15 to 30 minutes or until thickened but moist.  Serve as a cereal, top with pure cane syrup and pour on the milk.  Old school, but real good.
