St. Amant pastors celebrate ten years of ministry

Staff Report
Pastors Glenn and Cecelia Henderson are celebrating ten years of ministry in St. Amant.

ST. AMANT – On Oct. 13,  Pastor Glenn and Cecelia Henderson crossed a 10 year milestone of pastoring at Apostolics of Ascension, formerly known as New Hope Apostolic Church on La. 936, St. Amant.

The Rev. Tommy Russell was interim pastor filling in for Melvin Cannon, founder of the church who had suffered a stroke. Russell had asked the Henderson’s to help with the music on non-service nights. Soon Henderson preached a revival. Soon after the church was turned over to Henderson.

Throughout the ten years of Henderson's leadership, the church began making more offerings to its community, including ACTS and counseling by Golda Barrilleaux, who is a lay minister in the church. ACTS is a substance abuse course and counseling. The church has two major functions twice annually, the End of School party on the last Saturday in May, and the Fall Festival in October.

Apostolics of Ascension held anniversary services Oct. 8 to 11. Joseph Stewart preached Thursday and Friday nights. The Rev. Charles and Donna Fritz ministered on Saturday night. The Revs. Tommy and Karen Russell ministered that Sunday.
