For a couple of weeks East Ascension's FFA chapter has been collecting cans from community members and students to help students at their school who are food insecure. They have assembled a Hunger Outbreak Response Team (HORT) to help in their efforts, and have collected over 2,800 cans to give back to students at their campus. The team will direct all of the can pick up and donations throughout the year. These cans will be given directly back to the students who attend EA High School. Once a month the HORT team will open their big pantry doors and allow students who are in need to shop for free for local donations. Items needed are things such as soups, vegetables, fruits and pastas to help in curving the Hunger Outbreak in our community. It is reported that 1 in 6 people in our country are hungry and EA FFA is doing one small thing to help break that statistic. If you would like to help please contact EA FFA throughout the year for donations or volunteer information.
