Swamp Pop Music Festival Jambalaya Cooking Contest Monday

Jambalaya chefs across Louisiana are invited to participate in the 13th Annual Jambalaya Cooking Contest on July 20 & 21 during the 15th Annual Swamp Pop Music Festival sponsored by Furnace & Tube Service, Inc. at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales A cook’s meeting for interested teams will be held on Monday, July 9, at 6 p.m. at the expo center’s Big Sky Café.  

The two-day cook-off benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been growing in size each year thanks to Wally Taillon and The Jambalaya Festival Association attracting jambalaya aficionados and amateur cooks alike. Jambalaya will be judged based on appearance, rice texture, meat texture and overall taste. The $150 entry fee provides each team of two with pork, onions, rice, sausage and cooking oil.  All participating teams will receive four weekend passes to the festival. 

Thousands of festival goers attend each year to enjoy an extensive line-up of Swamp Pop & South Louisiana musicians such as TK Hulin & GG Shinn, Treater with Charles Mann, Warren Storm Willie T & Cypress with special guest Tommy McLain, Reunion with Ronnie Melancon, Kenny Cornett, Kenny Fife, David St. Romain and many more!
