Free Wellness Workshop
Dr. Phillip Smith will be hosting a “Free Wellness Workshop” on Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. The topic will be “Detoxing Your Body Naturally.” Dr. Smith will talk about the most detoxifying herbs. Grief Support Group to meet
SouthernCare, Inc., 17316 Airline Highway, Suite P, Prairieville’s Grief Support Group topic Jan. 26 will be “How Grief Changes Your Life.” The host will be Rev. Beth Evason, Chaplain. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with drink and snack and discussion at 6 p.m.

Church invites Facebook
Jerry Thacker with local Emerald Coast Ministries has announced that the church group has begun a Facebook page and is looking for people to log on and like what they do. Simply go to Facebook and type in Emerald Coast Ministries to find out about all the things the group is doing for the community.
Library Scavenger Hunt
Ascension Parish Library is calling all Cahills for The 39 Clues Library Scavenger Hunt! Your passport will contain clues, but it’s up to you to solve them. Test your own clue-hunting ability and library skills. Work alone or in teams on this scavenger hunt based on locations and events in the popular childrenís adventure book series. Participants will also discover their family branches and make origami shurikens. Do you accept the challenge?
The 39 Clues Library Scavenger Hunt is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gonzales location. This program is designed for children ages 7 to 12. For more information, or to register, call the Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales at 647-3955.
CASA looking for volunteers
Child Advocacy Services’ Ascension Parish CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program is looking for volunteers to be the voice for children in the community who have been victims of abuse and/or neglect. CASA depends on volunteers to make a difference in the lives of these innocent children. Currently there are 10 children in Ascension Parish waiting for someone to be their voice. Will you be the voice for one of these children?
CASA training for Ascension Parish volunteers will begin at 6 p.m. on Jan, 30, at the Child Advocacy Services office located 1026 E. Worthey Rd, Suite C, Gonzales, LA 70737. Mardi Gras Gala tickets on sale
The Ascension Fair Association will host its 2012 Annual Mardi Gras Gala Friday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. at the Gonzales Recreation (Civic) Center Irma Blvd., Gonzales. The event will feature the band U4RIA. Tickets are $25 per person and are on sale now. Tuesday and Sunday Bingo
The St. Amant Knights of Columbus holds bingo two nights a week. On Tuesday, the doors open at 6 p.m. and bingo begins at 7:30. On Sunday afternoon the doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo begins at 5 p.m. No one under the age of 18 is allowed.
Everyone is invited to come. The St. Amant Knights of Columbus Hall is located at 43472 Black Bayou Road.
Teen Book Club
The Ascension Parish Library’s Teen Book Club is holding their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb.y 7, at 5:30 p.m. in Galvez and always the first Tuesday of the month. This program is open to all teens 6th grade and above. Talk about the book you are reading with other like-minded people and enjoy some light refreshments--just like other book clubs do! The American Legion Post 81, 421 E. City, Gonzales, holds bingo every Wednesday night. Everyone is welcome. Children are welcome, but must buy at least a $5 book.

VFW Post 3693, 42430 Church Point Road, Gonzales, offers bingo every Friday and Saturday. Children six years and older are welcome, but must buy at least a $5 book.
