Christmas on Candy Cane Lane performed

Staff reports

Lakeside Primary First Graders presented their Christmas play, “Christmas on Candy Cane Lane” on Dec. 13 and 15.

Throughout the production, first graders posed the question “Which is better, red or green candy canes?” The trees liked green while the elves and Santa liked red. After, the Color Guard was even called out to help settle the argument. At the end of the play, it was decided that Christmas is so much more than a silly candy cane fight. Rudolph and Mrs. Claus reminded the students that they did not have to choose. It is okay to like them both.

This play was originally funded through a grant written by Pam Gautreau. Lakeside First Grade teachers, Dawn Ashford, Pam Gautreau, Cindy Heck, Tracy LeBeau. and Christy Porta worked with students to present an outstanding production.

The students were so excited about their play and did a fabulous job learning lines and motions in a very short amount of time,” said Gautreau.

“The first grade teachers and students would like to thank Principal, Mrs. Embry, for allowing them to perform the play. They would also like to thank the many parents who made phone calls, set up and decorated the stage, filled treat bags, dressed the characters for the night of the performance, and rehearsed lines and music with their children,” added Gautreau
