Locals danced in Macy’s Parade

Staff reports

Members of the East Ascension High School Spartanettes Dance Team were able to experience New York City when they performed in the production of the Spirit of America Dancers in the 85th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The girls were selected during a try-out process this past summer at a dance camp in Texas. Despite several hours of practice and rehearsals for their performance in the parade, the girls were able to attend the Broadway show “Sister Act,” a performance from Radio City Music Hall’s Rockettes, famous land marks, and a night rehearsal in front of Herald Square with NBC producers.

The girls also attended the private taping of Christmas Rockefeller Center with guest stars Justin Biever, Usher and Tony Bennett. The girls marched in the parade from Central Park to Macy’s Herald Square where they performed their dance routine on NBC in all time zones before thousands through live and television audiences.
