Bourgeois, Cindy Lou

A resident of St. Amant, she passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. Interment in New River Baptist Church Cemetery.

Champagne, Harold Joseph

A native of St. Charles Parish and a resident of Gonzales, he passed away Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at the age of 87. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired machinist with Exxon. Entombment in St. Mary's Nativity Church Cemetery in Racelan.

Dorsey, Margaret “Jo”

A retired employee with South Central Bell and EATEL and volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales, she died at 4:05 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Hospice of Baton Rouge. She was 87, a resident of Prairieville and native of Birmingham, Ala. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Esquivel, Daniel Joseph

A native of Donaldsonville and resident of Gonzales, he was 76 and passed away  at his home Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. He retired as assistant vice president of Security Plan Life Insurance in 1997, after his 36-year career with the company. He enlisted in the Louisiana National Guard at age 17, served his country for 21 years and retired with the rank of first sergeant (E-8). During his tenure with the Guard, he was an inspiration to many, including his subordinates, peers and leaders. While in retirement, he served several years on the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee and the Fort Polk Retiree Council.  He was a notary public for the state of Louisiana and a member of the Parish Council at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant. Daniel also served as a commissioner of elections at the voting polls. Burial in Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church mausoleum, Donaldsonville, on Friday at 11 a.m.

Fogan Sr., Clarence

A native and resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at D'Ville Nursing Home, Donaldsonville. He was 82. Interment in Protestant Cemetery, Donaldsonville.

Gautreaux, Mamie Margaret “Ma Treaux”

A resident of St. Amant, she passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at age 96.  Interment in Hope Haven Garden of Memories, Gonzales.

Gibbs, Lynette Marie Nelson

A retired engineer technician with the Louisiana Department of Transportation, Baton Rouge, with 30 years service, she departed this life Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. She was 56. Interment in Christian Assembly Full Gospel Church cemetery.

Joshua, Terrance “Moody”

A security guard with Tracer Security, resident and native of Donaldsonville, he died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at home. He was 29. Interment in Protestant Cemetery, Donaldsonville.

Khamvongsa, Daoheuang “Vieng”

A native of Vientiane, Laos, and resident of Prairieville, he passed away at age 59 on Friday, Oct. 6, 2011. Visiting was at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Friday, Oct. 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumed Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. until service at noon.

Melugin, Sr., Johnnie “Pat” Barry  

A passionate and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, he passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, surrounded by his family at his home in Prairieville. He was a 79 and a native of Oklahoma. Pat was a retired carpenter with Local 1098. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, gardening, football, and most of all, watching his grandchildren playing sports. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Mire Melugin; daughters, Cynthia Melugin Brecheen, and Patricia Melugin Hima and husband George; sons, Johnnie B. Melugin Jr. and wife Jeannine, and Michael Melugin Sr. and wife Cindy; sisters, Ruby Melugin Schaper and husband Wayne, and Linda Melugin Ochs and husband Don; grandchildren, U.S. Army Major Larry Babin Jr. and wife Chrissie, Jody Paul Melugin and friend Charity Griffin, Rachel Babin Campo and husband Anthony, Michael Melugin Jr. and wife Callie, Joshua Melugin and Meghan Melugin; great-grandchildren, Christa, Gabriel, Hannah and Noah Babin, Landon, Jaycee and Jaydon Campo, and Alyse and Kane Melugin; special niece, Shirley White; many other loving family members and his favorite four-legged companion, Jack, a yellow lab. He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabelle Webber Duplessis; stepfather, Benjamin Mulder; father, John Irving Melugin; brother, Carl Melugin; and sons-in-law, Clyde Brecheen Sr. and Larry Babin Sr. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., with the Rev. Rubin Reynolds, celebrant. Entombment in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery, Prairieville. Pallbearers will be U.S. Army Major Larry Babin Jr., Jody Paul Melugin, Michael Melugin Jr., Joshua Melugin, Landon Campo and Gabriel Babin. Honorary pallbearer is Noah Babin. Mullins, Irene Yvonne

A resident of Gonzales, she passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales.

Verbois, W. Sidney

He passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at home. He was born May 5, 1922, and was a graduate of Acadia Baptist Academy in Eunice. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Coast Guard and worked as a printer for his whole career. He was a member of First Baptist, Gonzales, for many years. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
