Ballard, Theresa Louise Sutton

She was born Nov. 17, 1942, a native of Reserve. A longtime resident of Gonzales, she passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at the age of 68. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.

Collette, Mary Annette “Nettie”

A native of Bogalusa and longtime resident of St. Amant, she passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at age 74. She retired from Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Co. in 1997 after working as a secretary and accounting clerk for 30 years.  Entombment in Hope Haven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. She attended Annunciation Catholic School in Bogalusa and Bogalusa High School, and graduated from Baton Rouge High in 1953. After high school, she attended Spencer Business College in Baton Rouge, graduating in 1955.

Cutway, Louis Edward

A resident of St. Amant, he passed away at 68 on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at 2:10 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. Upon completion of high school, he joined the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country for 22 years. After he retired from the Navy in 1981, he came to Louisiana for his new career at BASF Wyandotte, Geismar. Lou was a member of a Masonic lodge, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Burial in Colyell Community Cemetery.

Gautreau, Luke Anthony

An A/C technician and a resident of Gonzales, he died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011. He was 34, born in Baton Rouge. Memorial service were at Rock Church, 42080 Church Point Road, Gonzales, on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m.

Jarrett, Peggy Darlene Akins

A native of Indiana and resident of Prairieville, she passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011 at the age of 55. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Kent D. Jarrett; son and daughter-in-law, J. Adam and Rebecca Jarrett; grandchildren, Austin and Samantha Jarrett; sisters, Beverly Bennett, Judy Conger, Sheila Thomas, Sharon Whitson; brothers, Douglas Akins, Tony Akins; and numerous other loving family. She is preceded in death by a son, Justin Jarrett; and parents, Edna ‘“Francis’” Murphy and Jesse Akins. There will be a memorial gathering at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. The gathering will resume at the funeral home Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until a memorial service at 1 p.m. Entombment will be in Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery, Gonzales. Marchand, Joan Wolfe

She passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011. She served her country in the U.S. Air Force. Interment in Cornerview Cemetery.  

Melancon, Roy Joseph

A lifelong resident of Sorrento, he passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at age 89. Entombment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales.

Noel. Donald Osler

A long-time resident of Donaldsonville and more recently, Prairieville, passed away at age 79 on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner of Tri-Parish Insurance Agency, retired vice president of Ascension Savings & Loan, and president of L.J. Noel Inc. Interment in Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church cemetery.

Norton, Otto H.

A longtime resident of Port Allen, he passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 89, born in Galvez. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Gulf States Utilities Co. with 41 years of service.  Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.

Ogden, Helen M.

She passed away at age 78 on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at her home in Gonzales. She was a native of Independence. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

Pedescleaux, Caldonia Batiste

A native of St. James and resident of Donaldsonville, she died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, in Donaldsonville. She was 91. Interment New Mount Calvary Baptist Church cemetery, Modeste.

Simmons, Claudia Mae

She passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 75, a former resident of New Orleans and a native and resident of Donaldsonville. Burial in Ascension Catholic Cemetery.

Tennessee, Manuel

A native of Donaldsonville and a resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2011. He was born Nov. 11, 1930, a self-employed skilled carpenter and U.S. Army veteran. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
