Coleman Sr., Garylenn Evans “Red”

A resident of Sorrento and retired maintenance worker, he departed this life Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at St Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 59 and a native of Gonzales. Interment in Do Right Full Gospel Church cemetery.

Griffin, Brittni Angelle “Britt”

She was 14 and a resident of Gonzales. She passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. Burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery. The Brittni Griffin Foundation has been created in honor her. The foundation will be used to help Brittni's family overcome unexpected expenses at this difficult time. Harris, Maggie Bartley Carter

She passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at 9 p.m. at Ascension Oak Nursing Home, Gonzales. She was 94 and a native of Hillaryville. She was born to Aaron and Orelia Bartley on June 21, 1917, in Burnside. Viewing was held Saturday, Sept. 17, at Hopeful Triumph Baptist Church in Hillaryville.

Joyce, Tommy L.

Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 15, at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales for Tommy Lee Joyce, 62, of Prairieville. He was born in Tyler, Texas, on Dec. 15, 1948. Burial will follow in Oak Lane Memorial Park, Prairieville.

Landry, Sidney J.

A longtime resident of Ascension Parish, he passed away at home on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011. He was 93.

Nickens, Ronnie Don

A former insulator with Local 53, an insurance agent and a car salesman, he passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 63, a resident of Gonzales and a native of Lake. He was a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard. Burial in Carpenters Chapel Cemetery, Galvez. He was a graduate of St. Amant High School.

Parr, John B.

John B. Parr passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Parr; three step-daughters, Stephanie Miller, Gwendolyn Maddox and Dannielle Stevens; two step-sons, Michael Mixon and Steven Mixon, all of Gonzales; 19 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Bevarly Wigert and husband, Russell of St. Louis; two brothers and three sister-in-laws,  Carroll Parr and wife, Carolyn G. Parr, Ronald Parr and wife Hazel M. Parr and sister-in-law, Catherine L. Parr, all of Dutchtown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Marion Lanoux Parr and brother, Luris Parr.

Washington Sr., Wallace

A native of Oak Grove and a resident of Prairieville, he passed awayThursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was a retired employee of Hanes Motor Lines with more than 50 years of service. He was 78. Interment in Mount Gillion Baptist Church, cemetery.

Willett, Mary Kaye Chandler

She was 55 and passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at 9:03 p.m. She was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Prairieville. Burial will be in Gray's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3693, Gonzales, and Stevendale Baptist Church of Baton Rouge.
