Local Scouts seek funds for Philmont Scout Ranch, Boy Scout High Adventure

Staff reports

Boy Scout Troop 769 from Praireiville, is seeking sponsors to help send them to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico in June of 2012.

Philmont Scout Ranch is one of four Boy Scout High Adventure bases in America. Each summer over 25,000 Scouts for all over the world spend two weeks in this remote wilderness backpacking its majestic peaks.

There will be four adults and eight boys attending this extreme high adventure program. They will backpack between 60-70 miles in the mountains for 10 days reaching elevations over 12,000 feet. The cost to send each Scout and adult next summer is $1,200 each or $14,400 for the group.
