Staff reports

River Region Art Association announces “Awesome Art on the Bayou,” an Arts & Cultural Festival, on Oct. 8 and 9, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the City of Gonzales at the City Hall/Jambalaya Park area and spreading along the Francois Bayou.

This year the Awesome Art festival has moved to a new, exciting location and will be open to the public.

It will feature arts and crafts booths, food booths, literary booths, children’s interactive art booths, non profit information booths, cultural displays, and continuous musical entertainment on the Jambalaya Park stage, along with the Awesome Art Show and Sale located inside the City Hall.

It will be the biggest art event in Ascension Parish featuring Louisiana’s diverse culture and immense creativity.

Applications and rules for the arts and crafts booths may be found online at www.artgumbo.org or picked up at the River Region Art Center in Gonzales on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Booths will be $75 for a 10x10 space for both days of the weekend.  All arts and crafts must be your own original work.  No commercial products will be allowed.  Literary booths for writers will be $25 for the weekend and that application form is also online.

Please make sure that you register early for Awesome Art on the Bayou should you wish to participate and keep in mind spaces can fill up quickly.

Registration will be on a first paid basis.  Registration closes Oct 1. For any other information, contact Donna at 225-328-7354.
