The Gonzales Garden Club held its 44th Annual Day Celebration Friday, Jan. 21, at the Magnolia Assisted Living in Gonzales with the planting of a purple leaf plum tree.

The program was opened with a welcome from GGC President Janis Poche and invocation given by Ellen Richmond. Loretta Ramirez, Arbor Day Chairman presented the tree to Tammy Duhon, director of Magnolia Assisted Living. 

A greeting was given by the Honorable Mayor of the city of Gonzales Barney Arceneaux followed with a thank you by Barbara Guillot, Civic Chairman and the reading of the poem “An Old Oak Reminisces” composed by Willie Mae Montgomery read by Genevieve Persac.
