City of Gonzales proclaims Catholic Schools Week

Mayor Barney Arceneaux signed a proclamation Jan. 19 designating the week of Jan. 30 – Feb. 5, 2011 as Catholic Schools Week.

The City of Gonzales took the moment as an opportunity to recognize St. John Primary and St. Theresa School’s vital contribution to the area by providing outstanding education for our young people for 51 years.

The Catholic Schools Week theme for 2011 is “Catholic Schools: A+ for America.”  Catholic Schools Week Masses are as follows:

• Saturday, Jan. 29:  St. Mark’s Church - 4 p.m. Mass (reception to follow)

• Sunday, Jan. 30:  St. Joseph Church (French Settlement) - 9:30 a.m. Mass.

• Sunday, Jan. 30:  Holy Rosary Church - 11 a.m. Mass.

• Sunday, Jan. 30:  St. John the Evangelist Church - 11:30 a.m. Mass

• Sunday, Jan. 30:  St. Gabriel Church - All students will be recognized at all Masses.

• Saturday, Feb. 5:  St. Ann Church - 4 p.m. Mass.

• Sunday, Feb. 6:  St. Theresa of Avila Church - 10 a.m. Mass
