Amber Ryan’s dream of operating a space for local treasures turned into a reality with the opening of Pusher Consignment.

Finding a hidden treasure, stumbling upon something that will look just right in the kitchen, fit in perfectly in the living room, or take pride of place in the bedroom, can give a shoppers a real sense of accomplishment.

Amber Ryan, owner and manager of Pusher Consignment, knows that special feeling very well.

Her store opened its doors to the Ascension public in May, and since then, has seen an influx of foot traffic from residents. Located at 43123 Weber City Road in Gonzales, Pusher Consignment offers shoppers the chance to find unique, one-of-a-kind pieces ranging from jewelry and paintings to furniture and memorabilia.

"Ever since I was young, I’ve found myself collecting things," said Ryan. "I was the type of person with a keen eye for seeing the value and potential in something. Over the years, all of those items began to accumulate, so I came up with a plan. I wanted to incorporate my passion for finding diamonds in the rough, and turning them into precious jewels for everyone to share."

Ryan's plan was the creation of Pusher Consignment. Along with her own wares, people bring in their personal finds, and Ryan sells them in the store for a percentage of the cost.

"I have established a comfortable environment where customers can come in and pick out products that are either antique, vintage, or collectable. We also offer custom additions to our products such as painting, refinishing, restaining, or re-upholstering," said Ryan.

Ryan not only keeps the business full of classic finds, she also knows the importance of keeping a spirit of community alive.

"I wanted a space where local people from throughout the parish could come and share their work, as well. I now lease out space to local artists and vendors, whether they are established or aspiring. It's important to support each other," said Ryan.

Pusher Consignment prides itself on giving each customer a personalized service. This personal touch is what Ryan feels has helped keep the customer coming back for more.

“My mission is to keep an open channel with all my customers in the community. I want to be able to give back by offering reasonable and negotiable prices on all of the special products the store has to offer. If I don’t have what someone is looking for, then I make it my priority, and promise I will put forth all my efforts in finding that special something they need,” said Ryan.

Pusher Consignment is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
