ACT sets 2010 season schedule

Ascension Community Theatre announced its 2010 season schedule, which includes “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Gypsy” and “Driving Miss Daisy.”

Season tickets are available at a 20 percent discount plus free tickets to the second stage productions if purchased before Jan. 31.

The comedy “Little Shop of Horrors” is set for Feb. 25-28 and March 4-6. Kevin White will be the director.

“Gypsy,” a musical, will run July 8-11 and July 15-18. Bryan Songy will serve as director.

The drama “Driving Miss Daisy” is set for Sept. 16-19 and Sept. 23-25. Jack Wilson will direct.

All Thursday-Saturday shows begin at 7 p.m. Sunday matinees start at 2 p.m.

The second stage shows include “Doubt,” which will run April 15-18 and April 22-24, and “The Oldest Profession,” which will be Nov. 11-14 and Nov. 18-20.

“Doubt” will be directed by Derek Bourque, while “The Oldest Profession” will be led by Mattie Olson.

All performances will be staged inside the Pasqua Theater at 823 Felicity Street in Gonzales.

Two special Gala Dinner Theatre performances of “Gypsy” will be July 23-24.

“Each year the Ascension Community Theatre and all of its volunteers vow to provide the community with excellent local theater,” said Lorna Culmone Bourgeois, ACT president. “This year is no exception.”

ACT will close the 2009 season with the annual Children’s Christmas program from Dec. 16-19.
