Auditions set for ‘The Crucible’

Ascension Community Theatre will present Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible,” directed by Heidi Alford Frederic, Nov. 5-8 and Nov. 12-14.

Auditions are set for Sunday, Sept. 13 from 2-4 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the Pasqua Theater in Gonzales.

Actors are asked to prepare a short dramatic monologue, less than two minutes, that showcases talents.

Auditions will also include dry-reading, or impromptu reading of the script.

Actors are asked to wear clothes that allows them to move freely.

Set in 1690s Salem, Mass., “The Crucible” tells the story of what happens when a fear-ridden town puts truth on trial.

Based on the true events of the Salem Witch Trials, “The Crucible” has become a theater classic.

Characters include: Rev. Parris, Betty Parris, Tituba, Abigail Williams, Susanna Walcott, Ann Putnam, Thomas Putnam, Mercy Lewis, Mary Warren, John Proctor, Rebecca Nurse, Giles Corey, Rev. John Hale, Elizabeth Proctor, Francis Nurse, Ezekial Cheever, Marshal Herrick, Judge Hathorne, Deputy Governor Danforth, Sarah Good and Hopkins (voice of) Martha Corey.
